Some of the recent events and activities
Programming at St. Sabina Academy
The Evolved Network partnered with St. Sabina Academy and the Stein Learning Garden’s new Co-Director Amontae Campbell. Sebastian ran portions of The Evolved Network’s personally developed curriculums with the 7th and 8th graders at St. Sabina Academy, where we seek to use food and gardening concepts to inspire creativity, connection, and thoughtfulness. Sebastian met with both grades once a week and programming is expected to continue through the Spring of 2022.
Programming with the Peace Makers group as a part of the BRAVE YOUTH program.
The Evolved Network continues to develop its relationship with the many branches of St. Sabina Church and ran our “Soul….Food” curriculum with the Peace Makers group as a part of the BRAVE YOUTH program. The BRAVE YOUTH program is made up of high schoolers who seek to impact their communities both at a personal and political level. Sebastian and The Evolved Network interns from DePaul University’s nursing program met with this group once a week and are expected to continue to provide programming through the Spring of 2022.
Demos with The Gardeneers
The Evolved Network has maintained it’s relationship with the Gardeneers here in Chicago. The Gardeneers Director of Curriculum + Learning invited Sebastian back to provide two in person culinary demonstrations with their high schoolers who are apart of the After School Matters Program. Sebastian taught these students how to make: Herbed Cauliflower Steaks with Cashew Gremolata and Brussels Sprout and Vanilla/Bacon pear salad. The students who participated attended Chicago based schools Sarah Goode Stem Academy and Marine Leadership Academy.
Presentation for the Pilot Light Teacher Fellows
The Evolved Network also collaborated with nationally based not-for-profit organization Pilot Light. Sebastian was a special guest and presented virtually for their professional development course, which informs teachers throughout the country on Food concepts. Sebastian presented on how “Food and the environment are interconnected”. Pilot Light has offered The Evolved Network further collaborative opportunities in 2022.
Your participation supported over 75 youth!
The Evolved Network, NFP is truly appreciative of those that attended our co-sponsored event with The Chopping Block on October 20th and our own Culinary Demonstration on December 4th. It was so much fun cooking with you all and the engagement was so much fun for us. We were able to raise $3985.00 due to your participation, donations, and support. Those funds allowed us to support our programs and the ingredients used to make dishes with over 75 youth we are currently engaged with. We will need your continued support to make that happen!

We will be hosting culinary demonstrations through 2022 and those funds will continue to support the youth we’re serving!
